Senior PREP/PAINT ARTIST
JOB DESCRIPTION
Paint Artists collaborate with Compositors to integrate various elements of an image, including CG and live action, to produce visual effects shots for films. They specialize in removing unwanted objects from plates, such as wires, rigs, crew members, mocap people, and tracking markers. Additionally, they clean up backgrounds in live-action footage to prepare for the addition of effects by the compositor.
Responsibilities:
- Execute mid or senior level paint tasks within specified timeframes, meeting or exceeding bid days for senior roles.
- Proficiency in marker, wire, and complex rig removal, artifact cleanup, and background plate restoration.
- Ability to perform compositing procedures like grading, wrapping, morphing, and distortion.
- Degrain plates and generate HDRI stitches from on-set HDRI photography.
- Submit shots for review and incorporate feedback as needed.
- Adhere to schedules and project deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Maintain ongoing communication with Production and Lead regarding schedules and deadlines.
- Collaborate effectively within a team or work independently to complete assigned shots.
Desirable Skills:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in feature film or series production.
- Proficiency in software such as Nuke and Silhouette.
- Advanced knowledge in nuke and sequence paint in silhouette
- Experience using 3D cameras for projections and planar/point tracking software.
- Working knowledge of Roto is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the 3D environment in Nuke, including using geo data for clean plate projections and understanding UV projections.
